Listowel Food Fair 2014 Gala Dinner & Awards

by Listowel Arms Hotel on November 24, 2014

The Listowel Arms proudly hosted the Listowel Food Fair Gala Dinner and Awards night on Saturday last.

The inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Denis Brosnan, the founder, chief executive and, former chairman of Kerry Group Plc. where he was the driving force behind the transformation of Kerry Co-op into a global food and ingredients Group. He has contributed significantly to the development of the South West region, and to Ireland as a whole, through his innovative leadership at Kerry Group. In his speech after receiving the award from Pierce Walsh, the Chairman of the Listowel Food Fair, Mr. Brosnan expressed that getting an award in Listowel is extra-special and emphasised the importance of artisan produce.

The winners of five categories in The Best Emerging Artisan Food Producers were not only presented with awards but also had their produce featured in the seven-course tasting menu. Below is the menu created and perfectly executed by the talented team of chefs of the Listowel Arms Hotel.

The night started with the Rosehip Bellinis made with the winning Rosehip syrup by The Wild Irish Forages & Preservers  from county Offaly. Dandelion Flower Preserve was the overall winner and will be displayed and sold at Garvey’s Supervalu supermarket. After each course the producer of the feature element of the dish was presented by Aoife Hannon, the Chairperson of the Judging Panel with a beautifully designed award and a cheque. A great night celebrating gastronomy was held by all.
