The lure of angling |
You have been trawling the cool
waters of the Feale at evening,
your mind half on the river and half
on the magical landscape.
Suddenly your reverie is broken.
The rod leaps, the line sings - and a
silver flash arcs from the pool's depth.
You won't be going home for supper just yet.
The Feale is a fast flowing spate river,
75 kilometers from souce to sea and
richly endowed with salmon and sea trout.
Including its many tributaries,
it offers 160 k (100 miles) of fishable water.
All legitimate methods are permitted, spinner,
worm and fly being most popular for salmon.
For anglers who prefer the lure
of the deep, there are organized sea trips
from the Listowel Arms to the teeming
waters of nearby Tralee Bay.
